The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority(IFEZ) opens a Bio-Healthcare Supply Chain Special Zone to Match demand and supply of Bio-Healthcare Companies’ products and services, contributing to strengthening the business ecosystem of companies.
IFEZ announced on the 12th that it will operate the ‘IFEZ Bio-Healthcare Supply Chain Special Zone’ at ‘BioPlus-Interphex Korea 2023,’ which is hosted by the Korea Bio Association and Reed Exhibitions Korea and held at COEX in Seoul from the 12th to the 14th.
The opening ceremony of the special zone was attended by 15 representatives from participating companies, including Kim Jin-yong, the head of the IFEZ.
This event is a comprehensive bio-pharmaceutical convention that the Korea Bio Association has been hosting since 2015 to share all value chains of domestic and international bio-pharmaceuticals and to create a foundation for overseas expansion through global business networking.
IFEZ is operating this special zone to expand the supply chain and activate procurement activities of bio-healthcare companies in the IFEZ area through product and service exhibitions, building business partnerships, and mutual information exchange.
For the operation of the special zone, IFEZ selected 15 companies, including ABLE Labs, Mondrian AI, NeoDreams, INEXOPLAT, Allmade, and BASIL BioTech, through recommendations and cooperation from Incheon’s representative innovation support organizations, such as Incheon Techno Park, MUST Accelerator, and Incheon Creative Economy Innovation Center.
On the first day of the special zone on the 12th, the representatives of these 15 companies were busy exhibiting their products and services and conducting individual consultations at their respective booths. They also provided support for content (newsletters) production and distribution.
A representative from a company participating in the bio-health special zone said, “This event is a great opportunity to meet experts in the bio-healthcare industry and have various business-related meetings with demand companies. It will be an opportunity to introduce our products and services and expand sustainable supply chains.”
In the ‘Open Innovation Stage’ held on the 12th afternoon, individual company presentations and Q&A sessions were conducted for selected companies that are supported by MUST Accelerator, including △Pharmaceutical-Bio- ▲Microbiotics, ▲INEXOPLAT, ▲Portray, and △Healthcare-Diagnosis-Medical Equipment-▲NEURIVE, ▲AIinsight, △Bio process equipment-▲ABLE Labs.
In the final showcase of the day, No Beom-seob, director of the Bio Process Human Resources Development Center, presented the construction of the Bio Process Human Resources Development Center, the Korean-style NIBRT program, and education collaboration plans with companies.
A representative from a company participating in this startup showcase said, “This company presentation was a good opportunity to find out the reactions of the market and experts to the products and services we are developing. It will be a stepping stone to innovate and launch our products and services and enter the global market.”
As part of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Energy’s Free Economic Zone Innovation Ecosystem Formation Business, which selected and participated in many companies in the special zone exhibition and startup showcase, Lee Ji-sun, Director General of MUST Accelerator, said, “We will focus on establishing business strategies for global market entry, marketing, capacity building for investment attraction, and comprehensive package support for Korean bio-healthcare companies.”
Head of the IFEZ, Kim Jin-yong, emphasized, “This event will be the foundation for creating the IFEZ industrial ecosystem, where bio-healthcare companies discuss demand and supply, share various information related to new supply, and collaborate. We will continue to make aggressive efforts to create a competitive business ecosystem and make IFEZ a top-tier city.”
